EUR/USD payrolls playbook: two scenarios for Friday
How the single currency likely trades a hot versus a cool US jobs report.

Friday's US nonfarm payrolls is the week's defining event for EUR/USD, and it pays to map the scenarios before the print rather than react to it. The pair enters the release mid-range, having reclaimed 1.0808 support, with the market leaning gently toward a September Fed cut.
Scenario one — a cool report. A soft headline paired with easing wage growth would cement the dovish narrative, drag front-end yields lower, and likely send EUR/USD through 1.0838 toward the 1.0880 objective. In this world the dollar's July weakness resumes and dip-buyers dominate; the confirmation is a 4-hour close above 1.0840.
Scenario two — a hot report. A strong headline with firm wages would revive the 'higher for longer' camp, lift yields, and pressure EUR/USD back toward 1.0790 and potentially 1.0745. The tell here is a decisive break of 1.0805 pivot support on rising US 2-year yields; that flips the near-term structure bearish and puts the dollar bulls back in charge.
The disciplined play is to let the number print and trade the retest rather than the spike. Payrolls routinely deliver a first move that reverses within the hour, so waiting for the level to be confirmed on a closing basis filters out the noise. Define invalidation before the release and size for the elevated volatility.
